Bachelor and Bachelorette Charters

The point is that everyone stays together. That is the one thing a yacht does better than a hotel.

Why a yacht beats a villa for this

A villa splits. People drift to rooms, to town, to separate taxis, and the group you flew out with spends 4 days reassembling. A yacht does not allow that. There is one deck, one table and one tender. Nobody is late because nobody can leave.

It also solves the logistics everyone hates: no transfers, no splitting a bill 14 ways in a restaurant that didn't want 14 people, no deciding who gets the good room.

The Bodrum week

Bodrum is the base for this and it is not close. The peninsula gives you beach clubs on the north shore at Yalikavak and Turkbuku, swimming bays on the Gokova side, and a town that stays open.

A 5-night version that works:

Board in Bodrum, first night in the marina so people can arrive at different hours. Day 2 west along the peninsula, swim at Camel Beach or Bagla, late afternoon into Yalikavak for the marina and the clubs. Day 3 recover: Gokova side, Orak Island, the clear water at Akvaryum, nobody goes ashore. Day 4 Cleopatra Beach at Sedir Island, then back towards town. Day 5 a last swim and in by noon.

The shape matters. One heavy night, one flat day, repeat. Groups that try 4 heavy nights in a row stop enjoying it by Wednesday.

Beach clubs, and the thing nobody mentions

Beach clubs on this coast run minimum spends, and they are higher for a yacht arriving by tender than for walk-ins. Day beds are booked, not claimed. In August the good ones are gone a week out.

We book these in advance as part of the charter rather than letting the group turn up and negotiate. See The VIP Beach Club if the clubs are the whole point of the week.

The yacht

A gulet. For this specific job it beats a motor yacht of the same money and it is not an aesthetic preference. You get a long table, a huge aft deck, cabins for 16, and a crew who have done this a hundred times. A 30 m gulet carries a group that a 30 m motor yacht cannot seat.

The exceptions are speed and air conditioning. If the group wants to move 40 miles in an afternoon, or sleep at 19°C in August, a motor yacht earns it.

House rules worth agreeing before day 1

Who pays for what, and when. Settle it on land. A shared kitty handed to one person on day 1 is the only arrangement that survives the week.

Damage, breakages and the security deposit sit with the charterer, which means one name. Make sure that person knows it is them.

Frequently asked questions

Can we have music on deck?

In the Bodrum bays, generally yes. In the protected bays around Gocek and Fethiye, amplified music is restricted overnight. Bodrum is the right base for this occasion for exactly that reason.

How many people fit?

A 30 m gulet sleeps 12 comfortably. Above that you are into 2 yachts travelling together, which we do run. It needs a second captain briefed on the same route.

Is a day charter enough?

For 12 people and a single blowout, yes. For a group flying in from 3 countries, 3 nights is the minimum that justifies the flights.

Can we add beach club days?

Yes, and book them with the charter. Minimum spends apply and the good clubs sell out in August.
