The Lürssen 159 charter Bodrum listing is a 49-metre displacement motor yacht built by the German yard Lürssen. She was delivered in 2012 and given a full refit in 2021. The hull is steel. There are five cabins for ten guests and a professional crew of nine. She was built for long, slow passages, not for speed. In a swell she holds her line and stays quiet below.
Bodrum sits at the edge of the Gulf of Gökova. It is the natural base for a yacht of this size. The bays are deep, the water is clear, and the runs between anchorages are short. A day can start with breakfast on the aft deck and end at anchor off a pine-lined cove with no other boat in sight.
The Lürssen is a serious sea boat. Two 1450-horsepower MTU engines drive her at a steady cruising speed. Fuel and water tanks each hold ten thousand litres. That gives real range and real independence. The crew of nine covers deck, engineering, interior and galley, so guests are looked after without being crowded.

The layout puts five cabins on the lower deck. The full-beam master suite runs the width of the yacht. There is a VIP cabin and further guest cabins, each with its own bathroom. The interior is calm and restrained. Pale timber, deep upholstery, low light. Nothing shouts.
The main salon and formal dining share the main deck. A separate skylounge sits above, quieter and more private, with its own bar and seating. This is where guests tend to gather after dinner. The galley is professional and sized for a crew that cooks for ten every day.

Outside space is the point of a yacht like this. The foredeck carries a jacuzzi and sun pads set well forward, away from the crew and the passerelle. The aft deck seats every guest for dinner under shade. A swim platform folds down at the stern to open a beach club at the waterline.
The toy locker is full. Jet skis, kayaks, paddleboards, snorkelling gear, water skis and a wakeboard all come aboard. A rib tender handles shore runs and towing. Stabilisers hold the yacht flat at anchor, which matters when you are swimming off the back all day.

Charter runs from Bodrum through the Gulf of Gökova and south towards the Datça peninsula. A week takes in the Seven Islands, Cleopatra’s Beach at Sedir Island, and the quiet inlets that only open to boats. Much of the best food in this region is boat-in only. The crew arranges tables ashore and provisions the galley to the guest’s brief.
The daily charter rate starts from €10,530. This is the charter fee. Fuel, food, harbour dues and other running costs are handled separately under the standard APA. A refit tells you how a yacht has been kept. The 2021 work on this Lürssen covered the systems that guests never see and the finishes they do. Air conditioning, tenders, electronics and soft furnishings were all brought current. She charters today in the condition of a much younger boat, with the build quality of a yard that has been making large yachts for over a century.
Season runs from late April to October. July and August are warm and busy, so the sheltered northern bays of the gulf come into their own. May, June and September are quieter and, for many guests, better. The water is still warm, the light is softer, and the anchorages empty out. Whatever the month, a 49-metre yacht gives you the space to wait out weather and choose your own pace.
