The Ferretti 780 is a planing motor yacht, so she covers ground when you want her to and sits quietly when you do not. Twin engines of 1660 horsepower give an easy cruise. The flybridge is the social heart of the boat, with helm, seating and shade. Below, the air-conditioned salon is the retreat when the sun is high.

Accommodation and interior

Four double cabins sleep eight. The full-beam master sits amidships, with hull windows on both sides and a private en-suite. A forward VIP cabin and two further doubles handle the rest of the party. Each cabin has its own bathroom. The interior is warm cherry joinery, cream leather and pale fabrics. It is restrained, not showy.

The main salon runs open to the aft deck. Sofas, a low table and a large flat-screen make it the wet-weather living room. The galley is fully fitted and the chef works it while guests are ashore or on deck. Bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are all included.

Deck space and outdoor living

Outside is where the yacht earns its keep. The aft deck seats all eight for dinner under shade, with the sea a step away. The foredeck carries a broad sun pad and a lounge that doubles as a spot for sundowners. On the flybridge there is more seating and the best views on board.

At anchor the transom platform folds down to the water. Loungers and a parasol turn it into a private beach. A tender and dinghy handle shore trips and towing. Stabilised at rest, the yacht stays comfortable for long lunches and lazy afternoons on the hook.

The Ferretti 780 was a well-judged size when she launched, and she still is. Twenty-four metres is large enough for real deck space and a crew, small enough to slip into the tight coves that bigger yachts have to pass. Draught is 2.2 metres, so shallow anchorages that a deeper yacht avoids stay open to her.

Season on this coast runs from late April into October. July and August bring warm water and busy anchorages. May, June and September are calmer, and for many guests they are the better months.
