About This Yacht

An Astondoa 72 charter Ibiza week gives you a Spanish-built flybridge motor yacht of 72 feet, just under 22 metres, with 4 cabins, 8 guests and a full crew. The yacht is based at Palma and takes guests on at Ibiza Port, Formentera or anywhere on Mallorca, which makes her a straightforward choice for a Balearic week that starts and ends on different islands.

Astondoa 72 charter Ibiza: the yacht

Astondoa has built boats at Santa Pola on the Alicante coast since 1916, and the 72 is the yard at its most characteristic: a deep flared bow, teak laid everywhere it can be laid, and an interior of figured walnut and leather that belongs to a particular era of Mediterranean yachting. Air conditioning, satellite internet and a full entertainment system are fitted.

On the Astondoa 72 charter Ibiza the flybridge runs most of the length of the superstructure, with the upper helm forward, a wet bar and a dining table under a bimini. There are sunpads on the foredeck and a second set aft of the flybridge console. The aft deck sits under a fixed overhang and takes the main outdoor table, a step up from the bathing platform and the tender.

Accommodation on board

The Astondoa 72 charter Ibiza layout gives 4 guest cabins: 2 doubles and 2 twins, sleeping 8. Bed configuration is 1 king, 1 queen and 4 singles, and each cabin has its own bathroom. The master takes the full beam amidships, the VIP sits forward, and the 2 twin cabins work for children or for a group travelling without couples.

The Astondoa 72 charter Ibiza saloon runs forward from the aft doors with sofas either side, a dining table and a galley beyond. The glass is deep and low, so the sea is visible from a seated position rather than only from the deck. It is a warm, enclosed interior rather than a bright modern one, and it holds up well when the afternoon sun is at its worst.

Where an Astondoa 72 charter Ibiza week goes

Most Astondoa 72 charter Ibiza weeks start with the short hop to Formentera. The sandbanks off S’Espalmador and the anchorage at Cala Saona take up a day on their own, and Illetes is 10 minutes further. The west coast of Ibiza follows, with Cala d’Hort under Es Vedra and Cala Bassa for lunch ashore, then north to Benirras and Portinatx where the day boats do not reach.

A longer Astondoa 72 charter Ibiza itinerary crosses to Mallorca for Puerto Portals, Andratx and the Tramuntana anchorages, or runs south to Cabrera National Park. Cabrera needs a mooring permit, which the captain files in advance, and the water there is the clearest in the Balearics by a wide margin.

Crew, dining and water toys

An Astondoa 72 charter Ibiza booking is fully crewed, with the captain shaping each day around the forecast and the guests rather than a fixed route. Meals are prepared on board from Balearic produce: tomatoes and almonds from the island, fish landed at Santa Eulalia, sobrasada, ensaimada. Boat-in only beach restaurants along the Formentera shore are booked where the weather allows.

Toys on an Astondoa 72 charter Ibiza booking are a 3.5 metre tender with a 15 hp outboard, a Sea-Doo waverunner of 90 hp for 2 riders, a wakeboard, water skis and a towable tube. Personal watercraft may only be operated by a licensed driver under local regulations, so if you want time on the waverunner, bring the licence or ask the crew about an RYA PWC course before the week starts.

Rates and charter terms

Rates for an Astondoa 72 charter Ibiza week run from 27,500 EUR in low season to 32,500 EUR in high season. The fee covers the yacht, insurance, crew wages and food, and the yacht’s laundry. Fuel, berthing, provisioning, drinks, communications and local taxes are additional, normally taken as an advance provisioning allowance of 25 to 30 percent of the fee. VAT and gratuities sit outside it.

For a newer flybridge with a dark hull in the same waters, compare the Princess 68 charter in Ibiza. For something faster, see the Azimut S7 charter in Ibiza. Yard history and current models are published by Astondoa. To hold an Astondoa 72 charter Ibiza date, send Aquinox Yachting your week and guest numbers.
