Seven crew for twelve guests is the figure that matters. It is a higher ratio than almost anything at this length in Turkey, and it is what separates a boat where the service is present from one where it is stretched across too many people.
Bozburun has been building working hulls on the Hisarönü peninsula for generations, and she is one of theirs: wood hull, wood superstructure, a long white sheer and two masts. Twin 500-horsepower MAN diesels give her ten to twelve knots cruising and fourteen flat out, with six thousand litres of fuel aboard.
Her draft is 2.75 metres, which is deep for a gulet and the one figure worth noting — she needs a little more water under her than the shallow-draft fleet, and the crew choose anchorages accordingly. In exchange she is markedly steadier in a seaway.
Six en-suite cabins sleep twelve: two masters and four doubles. Each has air conditioning, a television, indirect lighting under the bed and its own bathroom. The finish is contemporary rather than traditional — pale grey lacquered panels, buttoned headboards, dark timber soles.
The two masters are full-width with their own seating areas, and the four doubles are unusually even in size — there is no cabin that a group has to argue about. Crew of seven berth forward with separate access.
Bathrooms are finished in stone and pale timber with proper shower enclosures. Six for twelve guests, which at this length is the standard Aquinox Yachting expects and not every competitor meets.
The saloon is the room that dates her in the best way — an inlaid timber floor with a compass rose set into it, a curved banquette, a dining table for twelve and windows down both sides. It is craftsmanship of a kind that a newer composite hull simply does not carry.
The galley is a working one with a full range, wide counters and serious refrigeration — set up to cook for twelve plus seven crew for a week without provisioning stops. That is what lets the boat stay out in the bays rather than running back for supplies.
Outside she has four distinct areas. The aft deck carries the dining table for twelve under a fixed awning. Forward of it, a broad cushioned sunbed platform. The side decks hold teak loungers under shade. And the foredeck has the jacuzzi.
The foredeck jacuzzi is set flush into the teak with sun mattresses either side of it, which is a better arrangement than the raised tubs bolted to a flybridge that most boats offer. It is also the quiet end of the boat, a long way from the aft deck where everyone else is.
She carries a jet ski, SeaBobs, wakeboards, water skis, paddleboards, canoes, a ringo, a banana and a Big Mable, with snorkelling and fishing equipment, and a 5.5-metre RIB tender running a 90-horsepower outboard.
The SeaBobs are the standout — underwater scooters that will pull a swimmer along at speed and that very few boats in the Turkish fleet carry. Diving is arranged with a Bodrum operator who meets the vessel at the anchorage rather than being carried aboard.
Bodrum is her home port. The Gulf of Gökova runs east — Çökertme, English Harbour, Löngöz, Seven Islands, Karacasöğüt — and the Datça peninsula runs west, ending at Knidos above its ancient harbour. Her extra draft is no constraint in any of them.
Kos lies forty minutes across the strait, with Kalymnos, Leros and Patmos beyond it. With Greek transit paperwork arranged in advance the crew handle clearance in both directions. Aquinox Yachting builds the week around the group rather than running a standard loop.
The chef works to a menu agreed before boarding. Breakfast is served on the aft deck, lunch at anchor after the morning swim, and dinner alternates between the boat and a table ashore. Provisioning comes from the Bodrum market and the villages the boat passes.
